Nau mai, haere mai Peter Cordtz

Hanga-Aro-Rau is delighted to welcome Peter Cordtz (Ngātiwai, Ngāti Hine, Sāmoan) to our Industry Stakeholder Group (ISG) who came onboard on June 14. The ISG is an essential part of our governance eco-system, which influences and guides the direction and performance of Hanga-Aro-Rau.

Peter graduated from Massey University in 1990 with a degree in Applied Science. After graduating, he worked in commercial roles for eight years in a range of agribusiness sectors, followed by two years with an ITO (sport, fitness, and recreation). He then worked for ten years as a GM in the Rugby League sports sector before working for another ten years in the public sector.

His roles within the public sector included Chief Executive of Pacific Business Trust, Group Manager Community partnerships with the Commission for Financial Capability, and a 15-month position as the Interim Retirement Commissioner.

In 2021, Peter joined the Pacific social change agency The Cause Collective, taking the Community Economic Development Lead position. He is driven by the vision of Māori and Pacific people having every opportunity to participate fully in a healthy NZ economy. He sees that ultimate success means that communities achieve equitable standards of living and shared life expectancy.

Hanga-Aro-Rau is excited to have Peter join our waka and about the contribution Peter will make to the ISG. We look forward to learning from his expertise and knowledge to better serve our industries and their people.

As we welcome Peter to our ISG, we say haere rā to Duane Mann, also from The Cause Collective, following his official resignation last month. Duane has been an integral member of the ISG since its inception in June last year, bringing with him his passion for industry and Pacific Communities. He has contributed greatly to the kaupapa of the ISG, and we wish him all the best for the future as he takes up an exciting new role with Auckland Rugby League.  Ngā mihi nui, Duane.
