Industry leaders in plastics fabrication – we need you!

Plastics fabrication industry experts in our Qualification Advisory Group (QAG), have told us that there’s a real need for qualifications to allow existing workers to upskill and ensure the supply of quality, qualified graduates into the sector.

They have also advised that qualifications are vital to support the sector by addressing some of the key concerns they face such as attraction, retention, and training of staff.

With that in mind, we are proposing the following qualification:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Plastics Engineering and Fabrication (Level 4)

And three micro-credentials:

  • Onsite polymer welding (Level 4)
  • Acrylics fabrication and assembly (Level 3)
  • Plastics fabrication workshop and welding (Level 3)

The purpose of the qualification and the micro-credentials is to provide the plastics fabrication industry with a suite of products that will enable current workers to upskill within their specialisation and to ensure a career pathway is available for those new to the profession.

We are now seeking feedback and interest from stakeholders to ensure the qualifications above are tailored to meet the needs of the plastics fabrication industry. Because what matters to industry, matters to us!

The survey will close on Tuesday 07 November at 5 pm.
