CNC professionals, have your voices heard!

Hanga-Aro-Rau is seeking professionals in the computer numerical control (CNC) industry to share their expertise and knowledge to help develop new industry qualifications and skill standards.

As the workforce development council for manufacturing, engineering, and logistics, we have been working with the CNC sector to understand current and future needs. The result is a project to develop new qualifications, micro-credentials, skill standards and pathways for the diverse CNC industry.

We need industry experts to give feedback on developing these new qualifications and skill standards, and the planned scope is:

  • Level 3 micro-credential – targeted towards developing basic CNC operators
  • Level 4 trade qualification – targeted towards developing skilled CNC operators, catering towards engineering machining, fabrication, steel construction, joinery, glass and textiles
  • Level 5 micro-credentials – targeted towards specialisation and highly complex CNC operations and troubleshooting, e.g., realigning, repairing, and programming crashed CNC equipment (maintenance technician), etc.

Note: micro-credentials and credits will depend on demand from the industry and the complexity and skills required.

We need voices, big and small! Your voice will help ensure these qualifications are fit for purpose now and in the future.  Because what matters to industry matters to us.

If you or someone you know would like to join this review and development mahi, please get in touch with Matt Gough, Industry Manager.
