Commercial road transport micro-credentials open for feedback June 12th, 2023 Hanga-Aro-Rau has embarked on an exciting journey to review and revamp the qualifications in the commercial road transport (CRT) sectors to ensure they are up to par with current and future workforce development needs. And we want your input every step of the way! As part of our extensive qualification review, we have formed sector advisory groups (SAGs) consisting of industry subject matter experts, employers, industry associations, and provider representatives. The SAG’s valuable feedback has allowed us to better understand what changes need to be made to better serve the industry. The SAG has indicated that the current qualification structure for waste transportation and groundspreading is no longer meeting the industry’s evolving needs. They have recommended removing the waste transportation and groundspreading strands from the existing New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Specialist Driver) (Level 4) with strands in Transportation of Logs, Heavy Haulage Transportation, Livestock Transportation, Dangerous Goods Transportation, Waste Transportation, General Cartage, and Groundspreading [Ref: 3091]. Working closely with the SAG, we propose a set of micro-credentials aligned with the industry’s skill and knowledge requirements. We are seeking your opinion on these proposed micro-credentials and want to ensure they accurately reflect what is needed now and in the future. The following micro-credentials we are putting forward for consideration are: Waste transport driver operations and safety (micro-credential) Waste transport driver operations and safety using a left-hand waste collection vehicle (micro-credential) Off-road Heavy Vehicle Driving Skills (micro-credential) Heavy Vehicle Recovery Skills (micro-credential) We want to ensure that the qualification content is relevant and representative of the industry’s needs while meeting New Zealand Qualification Authority requirements. If you work in this industry or are a provider, do you think these new micro-credentials will meet your industry’s skill and knowledge requirements? Tell us in our two short surveys before they close at midday on Friday 23 June and help us confirm that these micro-credentials reflect what is needed now and in the future. Waste Transportation Micro-credentials Survey Off-road Driving and Heavy Vehicle Recovery Survey. We value your contribution to this micro-credential development consultation, and we are committed to working alongside the SAG to review and incorporate feedback into the proposed micro-credentials before submission to the New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA). If you would like to stay informed about the progress of these micro-credentials or any other exciting developments at Hanga-Aro-Rau, we encourage you to leave your contact details at the end of the survey.
