We are thrilled to announce the release of our Operational Plan for 2023-24. This comprehensive document sets out crucial mahi that Hanga-Aro-Rau is committed to achieving over the next 12 months.

Hanga-Aro-Rau Te Whakamanutanga – Operational Plan 2023-2024 builds on two critical pillars that define the strategic vision and direction of Hanga-Aro-Rau. Firstly, the Hanga-Aro-Rau – He Mahere Moana – Statement of Strategic Direction 2023-2028 charts our course over the next five years. Secondly, the Letter of Expectation 2023-24 gifted to us by the rangatira on our governing Council, reinforcing our commitment to achieving transformational change in the vocational education system in Aotearoa for our industries.

With the clear direction outlined in these foundational documents, the initiatives presented in our Operational Plan will help to steer us towards that distant horizon ahead of us, equipped with the necessary tools and energised to overcome any challenges that lie ahead.

We have drawn on the invaluable guidance we have received since commencing operations in October 2021. It is thanks to our kōrero, with over 2,000 stakeholders from Māori industry, iwi, hapū, employers, learners, unions, associations, and providers across over 70 sectors, that we are confident in our ability to achieve the goals set in this plan.

Our strong focus on industry voice remains a core feature of our Operational Plan 2023–24, and we will continue to be guided by the kōrero we have with our industry partners and through the members of our governing Council and Industry Stakeholder Group and our recently formed National Industry Advisory Groups (NIAGs).

We would also like to acknowledge the instrumental role played by our stakeholders; we are incredibly grateful for their valuable input in shaping our direction and guiding us forward. Their diverse perspectives and their insightful kōrero has been invaluable in understanding the evolving needs of our workforce and driving the transformation of the vocational education system for our industries in Aotearoa.
