The following qualifications will be reviewed:
New Zealand Certificate in Port Operations (Level 3) with strands in Port Administration, Cargo Handling, and Heavy Machine Operation

New Zealand Diploma in Port Operations (Level 5) with strands in Vessel Planning, and Yard Planning Link to the current version of the qualification
Stage 2: The scope of the project has been established and a plan has been formulated. Meetings with stakeholder groups have commenced.
Port Machinery Operations
The unit standards list below are being reviewed. Skill standards will be developed to replace some or all of these units, depending on feedback from industry.
Level 3
17161 Operate a straddle carrier
20052 Operate a lift truck for cargo operations
28902 Demonstrate knowledge of faults and the preparation required to operate heavy port machinery
28903 Demonstrate knowledge of the safe operation of heavy port machinery
28904 Operate heavy port machinery
