The industries we represented employed approximately 657,000 people across around 105,000 businesses that contributed $80 billion to New Zealand’s gross domestic product.
Māori made up approximately 14 per cent of the manufacturing workforce, 11 per cent of the engineering workforce, and 16 per cent of the logistics workforce.
Females accounted for 30 per cent of the manufacturing sector, 17 per cent of the engineering sector, and 24 per cent of the logistics sector.
The average age across these three sectors was 45 years old, which was three years older than the total New Zealand workforce.
