Industry leaders in manufacturing – we need your expertise!

Digital systems in the manufacturing sector will only increase over the coming years, and along with it the need for a skilled and trained workforce. With this in mind, we have been working with industry to make sure their vocational education needs will be met and graduates will have the right skills to hit the ground running.

We are pleased to announce that following the success of the Digital Skills for Manufacturing micro-credential, further training has been requested by the manufacturing industry to assist with the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies.

An industry-led pilot project was started in 2022 to deliver training to front-line leaders and their teams, providing knowledge to support the adoption of digital systems in manufacturing.

Following the completion of that project, a technical advisory group was formed by Hanga-Aro-Rau to develop a formally recognised award and we have received feedback from industry subject matter experts, employers, industry associations, and training provider representatives.

As a result of this feedback, we are proposing a Digital Systems for Manufacturing micro-credential (Level 3), and we want to know what you think.

The aim of this micro-credential is to provide people working in operational roles with an introduction to Industry 4.0 and an understanding of the digital technologies used in networked manufacturing systems.

We are now seeking feedback and interest from industry and stakeholders to ensure the micro-credential will best meet the needs of the manufacturing workforce, and we welcome experts to share their thoughts. Because what matters to industry, matters to us.

Please provide your feedback through the survey or [email protected] if you have any questions.

The survey will close on Wednesday 29 November at 5 pm.

The Hanga-Aro-Rau Sector Advisory Group will consider and incorporate all relevant feedback into the micro-credential before making the NZQA submission.
