Hanga-Aro-Rau Pūrongo Ā-Tau Annual Report 2023-2024 November 7th, 2024 We proudly announce the release of the 2023-2024 Hanga-Aro-Rau Pūrongo Ā-Tau Annual Report, showcasing our actions to enhance vocational education across the manufacturing, engineering, and logistics sectors. Over the past year, we have actively led and coordinated national and regional initiatives to identify workforce needs, support the vocational education system, and assist employers in addressing those needs through research, advocacy, and the development of workforce plans. Our sectors continue to grapple with significant skills shortages, a challenge that is only projected to intensify in the coming years. All of our initiatives seek to contribute to addressing this challenge to strengthen productivity and economic prosperity for all. We have engaged with thousands of stakeholders—including industry representatives, iwi, hapū, employers, learners, unions, and associations—across over 75 sectors. By listening to their insights, we are ensuring that the qualifications in our industries are relevant and effective. Over this last financial year, we continued our strong performance in advocating and leading industry to ensure the vocational education system best meets their current and future workforce development needs. We: Engaged with 2,592 stakeholders (including employers, providers, Māori, Pacific, disabled people, and business/community networks) throughout all regions Reviewed 47 qualifications and 277 unit standards Developed 17 micro-credentials and 19 skills standards, and supported 14 provider-developed micro-credentials Pre-moderated 566 assessments, post-moderated 777 assessments, approved 31 Consent to Assess applications and endorsed 86 programmes Held 22 National Industry Advisory Group meetings, five Industry Stakeholder Group hui, and two Whanake Māori industry events to put our skills leadership into action Provided investment advice to the TEC Issued our Workforce Development Plans (including plans for Māori and Pacific Peoples), and commenced research to unlock the potential of disabled in supporting our sectors to be sustainable and more productive.
