Energy and Chemical Qualification Consultation Survey – extended!

Industry leaders in Energy and Chemical industry – we need your expertise!

Through our Qualification Advisory Group (QAG), made up of industry subject matter experts and provider representatives, we’ve been reviewing the Level 3, 4 and 5 qualifications for the energy and chemical industry.

Industry had advised us that the Energy and Chemical qualifications are generally working well. We have made some minor changes to the Level 3 qualification with operational boiler strand to accommodate the fact that technological advancements have led to larger, unattended boilers being used in the industry. Industry also indicated the need to make the level 5 qualification more applicable to senior personnel in the industry rather than only senior operators. Finally, our QAG identified a need for a foundation level micro-credential to encourage new or potential entrants into the energy and chemical industry, including secondary school learners/ākonga and Aotearoa New Zealand citizens not yet engaged in education, employment or training.

We are now seeking feedback and interest from industry and stakeholders to ensure these changes will meet the needs of the Energy and Chemical workforces, and we welcome experts to share their thoughts.  Because what matters to industry, matters to us!

Tell us in our survey before it closes on Friday, 20 September 2024 and help us confirm that these changes to the qualifications reflect what is needed now and in the future.  Contribute to the Energy and Chemical Qualification Review Survey, click  HERE.

The Hanga-Aro-Rau Energy and Chemical Advisory Group will consider and incorporate all relevant feedback into the qualification before making the NZQA submission.

Ngā mihi nui for taking the time to participate in this qualification review consultation.
