Creating the first step in the pathway for a career in industrial sewing April 4th, 2024 Through our Qualification Advisory Group made up of industry subject matter experts, we recognise that the apparel, industrial textile fabrication and furniture upholstery industries need a qualification to recognise the unique mix of skills and knowledge required to ensure a supply of quality, qualified graduates in industrial sewing. As a result of this collaboration, we are proposing a New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Sewing (Level 3) and we want to know what you think! This proposed new qualification will provide the first step in a career pathway for those new to industrial sewing and recognise the skill of those already in it. It is also necessary to support the sector in addressing some key concerns, such as attraction, retention and training of staff, and recognition of the sewing skills required in the sector. We are now seeking feedback and interest from industry and stakeholders to ensure the qualification will meet the needs of the apparel, industrial textile fabrication and furniture upholstery workforce and we welcome those in the sector to share their thoughts. Because what matters to industry, matters to us! Please provide your feedback through this survey or [email protected] if you have any questions. The survey will close at 5 pm on Thursday April 18, 2024.
